Associate Professor Dr. Nguyen Duc Thanh currently teaches at the Faculty of Economics and Management, Thai Binh Duong University. He is the Founding Director of the Vietnam Institute for Economic and Policy Research (VEPR), Vietnam National University, Hanoi (2008-2020); a former member of the Prime Minister’s economic advisory group during the 2011-2016 term; and currently the Director of the Center for Economic and Strategic Studies (VESS) in Hanoi.

He is also the author of numerous economic research papers, actively participates in discussions and economic policy formulation in Vietnam, and is the editor-in-chief of the Vietnam Economy Annual Report series, an important and influential publication in the field of modern Vietnamese economics.

An Eisenhower Fellow (USA) since 2015, he is a member of the East Asian Economic Association (EAEA) and a consultant for various economic policy research programs, commercial banks, businesses, investment funds, and media channels in Vietnam.

He received his Ph.D. in Development Economics from the National Graduate Institute for Policy Studies (GRIPS), Japan, in 2008.
