Continuing the series of useful and practical activities during the 2025 Civic Life Orientation Week, two workshops held on the afternoon of September 12 helped freshmen begin to develop a global citizen mindset, while also equipping them with an emotional self-defense “shield” to face life’s pressures.
Live Local, Think Glocal
With an inspiring story and graceful presentation, Mr. Minh Phuoc – Vice President of JCI Khanh Hoa 2025 and content creator of the TikTok channel “Tui Người Nha Trang nè” – shared with students an interesting philosophy: Live local, Think glocal.

“Glocal” is a blend of Global and Local, representing a new mindset: thinking globally while acting and growing based on local core values. He emphasized that to reach out to the world, each person first needs to clearly understand where they live. From local identity to national values, having solid roots gives students the foundation to confidently connect, share, and spread the image of Viet Nam to international friends. Mr. Phuoc also guided young people on building a journey of studying, starting a business, and integrating globally.
Defeat Toxicity with Heart
After a morning of physical self-defense, K17 freshmen experienced another equally important form of “self-defense”: emotional defense. Under the guidance of psychologist Hong Phuong, they discovered their inner strength through exploring the values of the Heart.

The workshop created an open space, helping students reflect on different aspects of the Heart such as: Mindset, Mindfulness, Steadfast Mind, Tolerant Mind, etc. From there, they learned how to keep their minds clear, resilient, and filled with love. Psychologist Hồng Phượng emphasized that in a volatile world, a healthy body helps us stand firm against external challenges, but it is a strong spirit that protects us from internal wounds.

From self-confidence in building a personal brand to physical self-defense skills, from integration thinking to inner strength, the new students of K17 had a day of learning filled with knowledge and experience, ready for the university journey ahead.
