Over the weekend, 15 Vanuatu students studying at the University of the Pacific Ocean (UPO) took part in a meaningful cultural experience in Khanh Hoa. The program offered opportunities to learn about local history, engage in cultural exchange, and connect with the local community, giving the students practical experiences during their time studying in Nha Trang.

The Vanuatu students attended a program commemorating the 163rd birth anniversary of Dr. Alexandre Yersin.

The journey began with the students’ participation in a program commemorating the 163rd birth anniversary of Dr. Alexandre Yersin. Through stories about his life, career, and contributions to Vietnam, the students had the opportunity to learn more about a figure who left a distinctive mark on the history of Khanh Hoa, while gaining a deeper understanding of the place where they are living and studying.

Continuing the journey, the Vanuatu students joined the “Mid-Autumn Festival Night” at Do Vinh Primary School (Nhon Son Campus – Lang Ngua School Site), organized by STEAM Nha Trang. In the festive atmosphere of the Mid-Autumn Festival, the students joined local children in making lanterns, interacting with one another, cheering for the lion dance performance, and taking part in various recreational activities.

As part of the program, the delegation also joined in presenting gifts to 120 children from Raglai and Cham communities, helping bring joy and warmth to the children during the Mid-Autumn Festival.

Through experiences like these, international students at UPO have more opportunities to learn about the local culture, history, and community life. These activities are also part of a broader learning journey beyond the classroom, where every trip, encounter, and real-world experience contributes to a deeper understanding of the place they call home during their studies.
