As part of the series of activities welcoming Spring 2026, the Faculty of Law & Public Administration and the Faculty of Economics & Management of The University of the Pacific Ocean (UPO), in collaboration with the STEAM Nha Trang Group, recently organized a field experience program themed “Back to the Roots” at the Dong Bo Revolutionary Base.

The program was a meaningful cultural and educational activity for international students from Vanuatu who are currently studying Public Administration and Business Administration at UPO. The experience aimed to help students gain deeper insights into Vietnamese history, revolutionary traditions, and cultural values.
Under the guidance of war veterans, lecturer Nguy Nhu Anh, and Dr. Nguyen Van Xang, the UPO student delegation visited and explored the Dong Bo Revolutionary Base — a historical site that witnessed numerous heroic feats during the resistance wars. Notably, students had the opportunity to see firsthand the unique rock formations known as “gop” — large stacked rocks forming natural caves that once served as shelters and operational bases for revolutionary forces during challenging wartime periods.

At this “red address,” vivid historical stories shared directly by war veterans provided international students with an authentic perspective on Vietnamese patriotism, resilience, and the indomitable spirit of struggle. Through these stories, students gained a deeper understanding of and appreciation for Vietnam’s history and its people.
In addition to the historical tour, students participated in various practical and engaging activities such as decoding secret messages, basic first-aid training, and teambuilding games. These activities helped enhance soft skills, teamwork, and foster stronger connections between Vietnamese and international students.

At the end of the program, each student received a family medical kit donated by the A. Yersin Charity Clinic, reflecting thoughtful care for students’ health and well-being.
The “Back to the Roots” activity reflects the educational philosophy of The University of the Pacific Ocean, emphasizing that student experiences extend beyond the classroom to include comprehensive support for learning, health, and spiritual well-being. The University continually strives to create a friendly and safe learning environment, enabling international students to feel secure, integrate smoothly, and thrive in their new academic setting.
