On the afternoon of January 27, 2026, The University of the Pacific Ocean (UPO) held a Scholarship Award Ceremony to honor students with outstanding academic achievements and to provide timely support for students affected by natural disasters over the past year.

The ceremony was attended by People’s Teacher, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Hồ Thanh Phong, President of the University, along with members of the Board of Management, leaders of faculties and departments, and a large number of students.

In this scholarship round, the University allocated its budget and mobilized resources from individuals, organizations, and enterprises to award a range of practical and meaningful scholarships.

A total of 100 Disaster Relief Scholarships, valued at 25% to 50% of tuition fees for Semester 1 of the 2025–2026 academic year, were awarded to students whose families suffered severe damage due to storms and floods at the end of 2025. These scholarships helped ease financial burdens, allowing students and their families to welcome the Lunar New Year with greater peace of mind.

In addition, 42 students with strong academic performance and active participation in student activities were honored with Talent Development and Encouragement Scholarships sponsored by Sovico Group.

The program also awarded five “Towards Central Vietnam – Sharing Love” scholarships, sponsored by the AIT Alumni Community in Vietnam, to students studying away from home whose families and accommodation were affected by flooding.

Speaking at the ceremony, People’s Teacher, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Hồ Thanh Phong shared his heartfelt message with students: “Today’s scholarships serve as encouragement, but what you must prepare for the future is a solid foundation of Knowledge – Skills – Attitude. I hope you strive for success, first to support your families, then to contribute to your hometown and the nation, and eventually return to support and inspire future generations of UPO students.”

Representing nearly 150 scholarship recipients, Nguyễn Lê Minh, a third-year student majoring in Information Technology, shared his story. He recalled that the historic flood in November 2025 in the Ngọc Thảo area (Nha Trang) submerged his family home and swept away many belongings, including his laptop – an essential tool for an IT student.

“Receiving the Sovico Scholarship, I feel that my sleepless nights spent coding and studying have been recognized. Receiving the disaster relief scholarship, I am deeply grateful that the University reached out at the right time, helping to ease the financial burden weighing heavily on my parents.”

Congratulations to all the students! It is hoped that this meaningful support from The University of the Pacific Ocean will help students and their families enjoy a warm and fulfilling Lunar New Year of the Year of the Horse 2026 together.
