Recently, students majoring in Korean Studies at the University of the Pacific Ocean (UPO) participated in a Vietnam–Korea language and cultural exchange program with a delegation of students from Gyeongsangnam-do Province, South Korea. The activity was one of the highlights in the university’s series of programs aimed at strengthening international cooperation and global connectivity.

The program was conducted in an open and professional atmosphere, providing opportunities for students from both sides to directly interact and communicate in Korean. Through group discussions and sharing sessions about student life, traditional culture, and the academic environment in each country, UPO students had the chance to apply their language knowledge in real-life communication. Using a foreign language in a natural context helped students improve their reflexes, enhance their expression, and gradually develop stronger professional communication skills.

Beyond language exchange, the program also created a dynamic platform for multidimensional cultural interaction. Conversations about customs, cuisine, lifestyles, and learning perspectives between Vietnamese and Korean students contributed to greater mutual understanding, respect for cultural differences, and the promotion of international cooperation. These experiences form an important foundation for students to develop a global mindset and the ability to adapt in multicultural environments.

With a training orientation closely connected to real-world practice, the University of the Pacific Ocean continuously focuses on experiential learning activities that allow students to combine theory with practice. For students of the Korean Studies program, exchange programs like this play an important role in strengthening academic foundations, building confidence, and developing professional working attitudes even while they are still at university.

The experiences gained from the Vietnam–Korea exchange program not only created memorable moments in the students’ academic journey but also reaffirmed UPO’s commitment to training high-quality human resources with strong foreign language proficiency and readiness for global integration.
