A multicultural environment, opportunities for international experience, and a wide range of job prospects are the key highlights that make Korean Studies an attractive field of study.

Pacific Ocean University is the pioneer in the South Central Coastal region to offer a bachelor’s degree program in Korean Studies. Students majoring in Korean will have the opportunity to interact with native Korean speakers from their first year. Lecturers will provide support and equip students with proficiency in all four skills: listening, speaking, reading, and writing, as well as Vietnamese-Korean and Korean-Vietnamese translation and interpretation.

In their second year, students will refine their specialized Korean language skills. By the third year, they will delve into Korean culture, office skills, and knowledge of economics, commerce, tourism, and culture in Korean, building a solid foundation and fluency in the language.

Playing a crucial role in the development and enhancement of the Korean Studies program is the Center for Korean Studies (established in 2017). The center focuses on developing a team of qualified lecturers and creating high-quality teaching materials. Additionally, the center supports research and learning programs on Korean culture, economy, and society, while also inviting professors from renowned universities in South Korea to share their expertise, teach, and establish connections with businesses.

Professor Park Jong Ryul, the director of the center, affirms: “We strive to fulfill our 4H commitment to Korean Studies students. This includes learning with native speakers, receiving annual scholarships from businesses, gaining practical experience through internships at Korean companies, and receiving job placement support after graduation.”

Throughout their studies, students regularly participate in field trips to experience the working environment of Korean companies operating in Khanh Hoa province and neighboring areas. If they achieve impressive results, students have the opportunity to receive scholarships each semester from Korean companies such as Huyndai Vinashin, Shinhan Bank, and Hyang Sang Scholarship.

Additionally, students will experience the culture of South Korea through the annual “Korean Culture Day” held at Pacific Ocean University. At this event, students enthusiastically learn how to make kimbap, explore traditional hanbok attire, meet Korean students, and interact with Korean business executives.

Notably, Korean Studies students have the opportunity to intern for 3 months at Korean companies, earning an attractive income of 8-10 million VND. Most students are offered full-time positions after graduation with salaries ranging from 16-22 million VND.

“For Korean Studies students, the university guarantees 100% employment upon graduation. The demand for Korean Studies graduates is very high, especially in Khanh Hoa, with its strong focus on developing tourism and industry, attracting a large number of tourists and investors from South Korea,” said Mr. Tran Hoai Nam, a lecturer in Korean Studies.
